Starlink is a satellite internet constellation developed by SpaceX, aimed at providing high-speed, low-latency internet access to remote and underserved areas around the world. The system consists of thousands of small, mass-produced satellites operating in low Earth orbit (LEO), working in combination with ground transceivers.

The primary goal of Starlink is to bridge the digital divide by offering affordable internet services in rural and hard-to-reach areas where traditional internet infrastructure is not feasible. Unlike traditional geostationary satellites, which orbit at altitudes of around 35,000 kilometers, Starlink satellites orbit at a much lower altitude—between 340 and 1,200 kilometers. This significantly reduces latency and improves the overall internet experience for users.

Starlink began launching its satellites in 2019 and continues to grow the constellation, with plans to deploy tens of thousands of satellites over time. Users connect to the network via a Starlink dish, which automatically aligns with the satellites in orbit to ensure optimal connectivity.

Starlink has seen use in diverse settings, from residential internet service to providing connectivity in disaster-stricken areas. It has also been used by various organizations and governments to facilitate communication in regions where traditional networks are disrupted or unavailable.
